As some of you know, I actually already have another blog, as a hobby. Though I think the topics are fun, I only post once every month or two because, honestly, I find it a little exhausting — hence, the title, “I’m not crazy about blogging.”
But I am crazy about you, my family and friends, and many of you have asked how you’ll keep track of me while I head out on my newest — and to date, biggest — venture. So, here it is. I’ll post as much as I can, with as many interesting details as possible. Hopefully you’ll be able to live a bit of my experience and, through your comments, I’ll be able to keep each of you close to me while I’m away!
Now, most of you already know that 2008 was pretty eventful for me, in the best ways. Most notable was the career stuff. I transitioned out of law firm life and officially became a nonprofit consultant in the general counsel’s office of one of my favorite NGOs. I also stopped waiting until the “right time” and became a certified yoga instructor, with specializations in prenatal and kids’ practices. It wasn’t a completely smooth ride, but it was definitely happiness, and I felt a pull to keep going.
That same feeling forced me to finally commit to a plan for the trip I’ve wanted since I went to Ghana in 2006. I leave next week, return in mid-April, and I’m pretty sure most of you have already heard where I’m headed. Just in case, to recap, the main itinerary includes Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, India, Bhutan, Australia and Indonesia. As I mentioned on my other blog, a good part of my travels are “voluntourism” in nature. Whether related to service or not, though, I’m hoping that this time away will lead me to some gorgeous, complicated places, into the company of fascinating people, and a bit outside of my comfort zone.
Thanks for supporting me, again, as always, in my continuous search for truth, challenges and fireworks…in short, for a daily life that’s not your average everyday existence!
Much love,
K

My seatbelt is buckled, my tray table is stowed, and I’ve read the safety pamphlet. I’m ready for my trip, vicarious though it may be.
Can’t wait to follow along from home!!
